Eligibility criteria

This exam is offered by UPSC to graduates who are not married and who meet the following requirements: educational background

  • Any Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university qualifies an applicant for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA) and the Officers Training Academy (OTA).

  • Either a B.Sc. (with Physics and Mathematics) or a Bachelor of Engineering degree is required for admission to the Naval Academy (B.Tech or B.E).

  • Either a B.Sc. degree (with Physics and/or Mathematics) or a Bachelor of Engineering is required for admission to the Air Force Academy (B.Tech or B.E).

Students who are in their last year of a degree programme are also allowed to take this exam, but they must provide documentation showing that they have successfully completed the programme before the deadlines. The public announcement for the CDS Examination includes the dates. Maximum Age:-

  • 19–24 Years, Indian Military Academy

  • 19 to 22 years at the Naval Academy

  • 19 to 23 Years Air Force Academy

  • 19 to 25 years old, Officers Training Academy

Note: Only graduates who are "unmarried" (both men and women) are permitted to take this exam.

Registration and Fees

Candidates can only apply by registering online.

  • The concerned candidate may access the UPSC's official website at www.upsconline.nic.in.

Selection Method
